The city can effectively become its own biome, a large community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat, with a particular language, customs and a clear set of rules.

Moving from a smaller town to Milan I have always found interesting how larger city spaces can preserve a sense of familiarity, the streets and city squares acquire human traits as they become part of everyday life. These once merely communal transitory spaces become familiar entities.

Although this process is the result of routine, hence an inherently human tendency, it is extremely interesting to see how modern navigation and city exploration plays into it.

In an increasingly digitalised world the act of exploration can be divided in two phases: the first being the research, the inspection from the safety and comfort of our smart device. We take on the roles of omnipotent beings able to overlook the whole city from above.

The second phase is the actual step in the real city spaces, leaving the starting point and beginning the journey through streets and alleys, this is the time when the digital knowledge and first-hand experience clash and we get to truly discover our surroundings.

The wandering and exploration of the city is the focus of this project, The everlasting but renewed curiosity of the city and its inhabitants and the stream of explorers it generates.

A set of garments that morph through the different steps of the journey, a fun approach to design and vibrant look for the city wanderer.
